Murt to Host Drug Awareness Walk and Expo
9/5/2018
HARRISBURG-- Rep. Thomas Murt (R-Montgomery/Philadelphia) will host an Overdose Awareness Walk and Hope Expo to draw attention to the growing crisis of drug addiction in the community.

The walk is Sunday, Sept. 30, from 2-3 p.m. Registration is at 1 p.m. The expo will run from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 33 Conwell Dr., in Maple Glen.

“I want to personally invite all those affected by drug addiction or faced the pain of an overdose in their families,” Murt said. “Opioid addiction is crippling communities all across the Commonwealth. We must draw attention to this crisis and show families that there is help available.”

The Hope Expo is being organized with Angels in Motion. It will feature representatives from state agencies, local addiction support organizations, drug addiction rehab clinics and recovery houses. It will also include information on insurance, treatments and harm reduction. Information about a variety of resources is also available from the state Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs at www.ddap.pa.gov.

For more information, call Murt’s office at 215-674-3755.
