Murt to Unveil Smith Memorial Highway on Sunday
HARRISBURG—Rep. Thomas Murt (R-Montgomery/Philadelphia) will host a road dedication to honor a local veteran who gave his life serving in Iraq.

On Sunday, June 5, at 1 p.m., Murt will unveil a new sign designating a portion of Huntingdon Pike in honor of SPC Tristan C. Smith. The public is invited to attend the event. The event will be held rain or shine.

The ceremony will take place at the Bryn Athyn Fire Company, 2815 Buck Road in Bryn Athyn.

Smith served in Iraq with the U.S. Army’s elite 4th Infantry Division. He was killed on Aug. 27, 2006, in Taji, Iraq.

“Tristan Smith joined the U.S. Army out of a deep desire to serve our nation with the same passion as he did in serving his community of Bryn Athyn,” Murt said. “It’s important that we remember SPC Tristan C. Smith and all the men and women from this community who gave their lives for our country.”
