Murt to Host Shredder and Electronics Recycling Event
HARRISBURG-- Rep. Tom Murt (R-Montgomery) will host a free shredder and electronics recycling event to give local residents the opportunity to safely destroy personal paperwork and dispose of old electronic devices.

The event, which will feature an on-site industrial paper shredder, will take place on Saturday, May 14, from 9-11:30 a.m., in the St. Albert the Great Church parking lot, 212 Welsh Road in Huntingdon Valley.

GigaBiter, LLC, will accept electronic devices and small appliances for recycling, though no televisions or monitors will be accepted. Used cell phones will also be accepted and donated to Laurel House, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending domestic violence in our communities.

“Identity theft is a growing problem that requires us to become more proactive in protecting ourselves,” Murt said. “These thieves are brazen in their search for credit card numbers, bank account information and Social Security numbers. This is an important pre-emptive strike.”

The event has been co-sponsored by the Lower Moreland Police Force Benevolent Association, St. Albert the Great, Verizon Communications Inc. and Comcast Cable Communications Inc.

For more information, please call Murt’s office at 215-674-3755.
