Murt to Host Jon Gosselin and Paul Petersen at Upper Moreland High School
HARRISBURG—Rep. Thomas Murt (R-Montgomery) will host Jon Gosselin, who starred in the “Jon & Kate Plus 8” reality television show, and Paul Petersen, the star of “The Donna Reed Show,” at the Upper Moreland High School for a conversation on child labor laws within the Pennsylvania film and television industry.
The event will be held Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. The high school is located at 3000 Terwood Road in Willow Grove,
“We’ve made great strides in protecting our child performers, but much more needs to be done,” Murt said. “This event will begin the conversation.”
Paul Petersen, who founded “A Minor Consideration,” an advocacy group that supports reforms to protect child actors across the country, was instrumental in helping Murt rewrite Pennsylvania’s child labor laws.
In 2010, Murt hosted a Majority Policy Committee hearing on the “Jon & Kate Plus 8” show and whether the producers of the show had violated state child labor laws. That hearing led to a major transformation of the state’s child labor laws in 2013.
Gosselin will discuss his experiences on the show.
The event is open to the public. Call 215-674-3755 for more information.
