Murt Issues Statement on Passage of State Budget

HARRISBURG – Rep. Thomas Murt (R-Montgomery/Philadelphia) released the following statement following the passage of a 2013-14 state budget:

“I have fought tirelessly to make sure our most vulnerable citizens are provided for,” Murt said.  “While this budget is economically responsible, it adds $26 million to reduce the waiting list for individuals with intellectual disabilities.  It also adds $1.5 million to the Department of Health to help restore funding for diabetes programs, bio-technology research, poison control centers, and support services for those with Lupus, epilepsy, ALS, and Tourette syndrome.

“I’m also proud to say this budget funds a pilot program though Pennsylvania Work Force Investment Boards to help unemployed Pennsylvania veterans find work.

“This is a balanced budget without tax increases that helps those who cannot help themselves.”
