Murt Resolution on Veterans with PTSD Passes House

HARRISBURG - A resolution offered by Rep. Tom Murt (R-Montgomery/Philadelphia) to bring attention to veterans with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) has passed the House.

House Resolution 201 declares May Military Service-Related Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Month in Pennsylvania.

According to the Department of Veteran Affairs, as many as one in five veterans from the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq will suffer from PTSD.

“PTSD can happen to anyone placed in a distressing situation, and few people experience as many emotionally charged events as our military personnel,” Murt said. “As legislators, it is our responsibility to make sure we take care of those who have sacrificed so much for us. That includes drawing attention to their problems as we search for ways to help them transition back into civilian life.”
