HARRISBURG—Rep. Thomas Murt (R-Montgomery/Philadelphia) will host a road dedication to honor a local veteran who gave his life serving during the Vietnam War.

On Sunday, Sept. 24, at 1 p.m., Murt will unveil a new sign designating a portion of Blair Mill Road from Easton Road to Horsham Road in honor of PFC Paul T. Wright. The public is invited to attend the event, which will be held rain or shine.

The ceremony will take place at the Blair Mill Elementary School, 109 Bender Road in Hatboro.

Wright was deployed to Vietnam in Jan. 1968. He was sent to Quang Ngai Province, which was the most dangerous part in Vietnam at that point in the war. On the day of his death, Paul and his unit were operating mine sweeping devices. When Paul tried to provide aid an injured man, he detonated a land mine. Paul died on April 3, 1968, at age 20.

“I don’t believe we have ever properly recognized PFC Paul T. Wright, but we will correct that omission,” Murt said. “It’s important that we remember all the men and women from this community who gave their lives for our country.”
