-- Reps. Thomas Murt (R-Montgomery/Philadelphia) and Madeleine Dean (D-Montgomery) will co-host an Overdose Awareness Walk and Hope Expo to draw attention to the growing crisis of drug addiction in the community.
The walk is Sunday, Oct. 1, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Registration is at 12:30 p.m. The expo will run from 1-4 p.m. at Hatboro Baptist Church, 32 N. York Road in Hatboro
The Overdose Awareness Walk will start at Hatboro Baptist Church, proceed south to Horsham Road, cross York Road and return north on York Road back to the church.
“I want to personally invite all those affected by drug addiction or faced the pain of an overdose in their families,” Murt said. “Opioid addiction is crippling communities all across the Commonwealth. We must draw attention to this crisis and show families that there is help available.”
The Hope Expo is being organized by Angels in Motion. It will feature representatives from state agencies, local addiction support organizations, drug addiction rehab clinics and recovery houses. It will also include information on insurance, treatments and harm reduction.
